The WENOSA Scholarship Programme is a strategic initiative for academically talented South African women pursuing qualifications in critical and underrepresented sectors. It provides focused financial support to help successful applicants complete their studies and move into impactful careers.

Who it supports

Final-year undergraduate, Honours, Master's and Doctoral students registered at recognised South African public universities.

What it funds

Verified outstanding tuition fees, with approved amounts paid directly to the university.

Who can apply

Applicants must satisfy all programme requirements and submit a complete application through the official online portal.

01 South African citizenship

Applicants must be female South African citizens.

02 Recognised public university

Applicants must be registered at a recognised South African public university.

03 Final year in 2026

Applicants must be in the final year of an undergraduate, Honours, Master's or Doctoral qualification during the 2026 academic year.

04 Minimum academic average

Applicants must have achieved and maintained an academic average of at least 65%.

05 Financial need and leadership potential

Applicants must demonstrate financial need, leadership potential and evidence of community involvement or impact.

Preference will be given to qualifications aligned to critical and underrepresented sectors, including the following fields.

Required documents

A complete application should include the following documentation. WENOSA may request additional information during verification.

Certified South African ID A clear certified copy of the applicant's identity document.
Full academic transcript An official record showing academic performance.
Proof of registration Confirmation of registration for the 2026 academic year.
Curriculum Vitae A current CV reflecting education, leadership and involvement.
Latest university fee statement A statement showing verified outstanding tuition fees.
Existing funding confirmation Required where another bursary, scholarship or funding arrangement applies.

How applications are assessed

Submission does not guarantee funding. Applications will be evaluated and verified using the programme's approved selection criteria.

Academic performance Achievement and consistency, including the minimum 65% average.
Financial need The applicant's verified funding position and outstanding tuition requirement.
Leadership potential Evidence of initiative, responsibility and the ability to contribute meaningfully.
Community involvement Participation, service and demonstrable impact beyond academic study.
